Did you ever dream of spending your vacation in a beautiful, historic house in the Engadin Valley in Switzerland? Your dream may become reality in the Posta Veglia.
The house is located in the core of the village of Sils-Baselgia. In a few minutes you can walk to the Lake of Sils and admire the magic landscape of the Lakes Region of the Upper Engadin. The seasons of summer and fall will entice you to hike innumerable scenic valley and mountain trails. In winter you’ll experience glorious ski runs in swirling clouds of fluffy powder.  The numerous ski trails are easily accessible with the local bus, the meticulously groomed cross country trails -part of the famous Engadin Ski Marathon Race - pass right in front of your door.
This historic house (built 1792) has been placed under Swiss monument protection. It was modernized respectfully and always with a conscious view to preservation of the old  architectural  features. The cozy stone pine paneled living area is heated from the kitchen with an antique Engadin stove. A small wooden staircase leads from there to an upstairs bedroom.
The original kitchen with a stone floor and a granite sink has been updated with modern appliances without any structural alterations. Modern bathrooms offer desired comfort even with full occupation.
7 to max 9 people will be able to enjoy  comfortable, cozy and relaxing holidays in this historic surrounding.

Excursion possibilities:
What mountains. What lakes. What light! Whether on the 580km (360 miles) of hiking paths strewn over all the mountains or by mountain bike along 400km (250 miles) of fabulous trails: the Upper Engadin offers a superb network of paths and trails amidst an unspoilt Alpine landscape and the inspiring lake plateau. Four flow trails on the Corviglia guarantee a perfect flow. Equally popular among sports enthusiasts are the Upper Engadin lakes; kiting, sailing, windsurfing, stand up paddling – the possibilities are virtually endless. The expanse of the inspiring high-lying valley can be experienced in a particularly striking way on the two 18-hole golf courses in Samedan and Zuoz. And besides the wide range of sporting options, visitors can take advantage of the first-class cultural activities on offer, such as a visit to a museum or to one of the numerous art galleries in the various villages.  


In winter, the ski areas of Corviglia, Corvatsch, Diavolezza and family friendly Zuoz invite ski and snowboard enthusiasts to revel in 350 kilometres (218 miles) of the finest powder snow. Cross-country skiers will find over 220km (137 miles) of perfectly groomed trails in the Upper Engadin and the side valleys. The winter hiking paths and cross-country ski trails on the frozen Upper Engadin lakes are characterised by their light, sunshine and space amidst inspiring Alpine scenery. Those who would like to enjoy the tranquillity and beauty of the snow-covered forests can explore the side valleys of Val Roseg, Val Fex or Val Bever on 150 kilometres (90 miles) of winter hiking paths. Visitors who prefer to have everything in view, meanwhile, will delight in the breathtaking vistas on the panorama hiking trails high above the lakes on Muottas Muragl.  


Families can bask in the Engadin sun during a ride in a horse-drawn carriage into the Val Roseg or Val Fex, or race down the mountainside into the valley on the winding, 4.2km (2.6 mile) long toboggan run on Muottas Muragl.

The long dining table with corner seat and a second table by the stove offer space for a maximum of 12 people. A sofa and two armchairs invite you to relax and read.

A hatch facilitates the connection to the kitchen and a small wooden staircase leads to the bedrooms above.


Other bedroom furniture (Bedroom1): The house has three double, one single bedroom and a small children's room. These have also been left in their original condition, which is typical for an Engadin house. There are several cots available for younger guests.


Other kitchen equipment (Kitchen1): The large kitchen combines the original charm of an old Engadin kitchen with modern comfort (electric stove, dishwasher, washing machine). With a large table and enough space, it is ideal for a large family or friends who cook together and also enjoy an aperitif.

Location description: Sils – an enrichment for the body, mind and soul. Sils is a place overflowing with life energy; this can actually be scientifically measured. But why bother when you are anyway guaranteed to fall under the spell of the landscape at first sight?Writers such as Nietzsche, artists like Beuys, and musicians such as David Bowie drew inspiration from the wonderful open spaces and the magical light here, and each played a considerable role in establishing Sils as the cultural centre of the Engadin. These days – with good reason and not without a sense of pride – both local inhabitants and guests from all over the world describe Sils as a place abounding in life force and natural earth energy. For particularly high values on the Bovis scale – the life force index – have been measured here. Nestling idyllically between Lake Sils and Lake Silvaplana, the village lies at the gateway to the romantic Fex Valley and is the perfect starting point for walks through this wide open, light-flooded valley. In winter, the best way to explore the valley is by taking a ride in a horse-drawn sleigh.Those for whom the sky’s the limit will find a variety of routes for hiking and mountain-biking tours on Sil’s home mountain, the Furtschellas. Moreover, a trip on Lake Sils on board Europe’s highest-altitude scheduled cruise boat provides particularly spectacular views of the beautiful Alpine scenery.However, Sils is also the perfect departure point for winter hikes and cross-country ski tours through the wide expanse of the frozen lakes, which trustingly huddle around the Furtschellas. From the Furtschellas, you can get higher still in no time at all – on the Corvatsch, home to the highest summit station in the Eastern Alps (3303m/10,836ft). And from here, 120 kilometres (75 miles) of challenging pistes lead back down into the valley.
