    “Die Einkäufe konnten innerhalb ein paar Minuten mit dem Auto erledigt werden. Restaurants gibt es einige in Santana. Ansonsten ist es ein kleines ruhiges Örtchen und nicht so viel los. Wer Action sucht, ist hier nicht richtig. Zum Baden an einen Strand muss man etwas fahren.”

    “Es kommt sicher darauf an, was man will. Hier bekommt man Ruhe, viel Platz, ist für sich und kann vor allem wandern. Alles das haben wir ausgiebig gemacht. Die schöne Levada do Roi ist ca. 2,5km entfernt, auch ins Inselzentrum und nach Westen nach Sao Vicente kommt man leicht. Besonders empfehlenswert ist die kleine Küstenwanderung von Arco do Sao Jorge nach Boaventura. Vom Haus aus ca. 1km den Berg runter kommt man zu einem schönen Aussichtspunkt, vom dem man bis Porto Moniz schauen kann. Bis Porto Moniz fährt man ca. 1 Stunde mit dem Auto auf teilweise schlechten Straßen. Einkaufsmöglichkeiten: Es gibt im Ort Sao Jorge einen kleinen Supermarkt für's Nötigste (wer ihn nicht von selber findet, sollte einfach die Einheimischen fragen). Man kann dort nicht mit Karte zahlen, nebenan gibt es aber einen Geldautomaten. Der große Supermarkt in Santana ist ca. 10km entfernt. Bademöglichkeiten: Bei Sao Jorge Richtung Santana gibt es eine einfache Piscina, der Lava-Strand bei Seixal war nicht nutzbar wegen hoher Wellen, so kann man auf dieser Inselseite eigentlich nur in Porto Moniz oder in Santana baden. Restaurants gibt es mehrere in fahrbarer Nähe, ca. 300m vom Haus entfernt gibt es eine Snackbar mit Pizza (die haben wir aber nicht ausprobiert). Man braucht unbedingt ein Auto, auch zum Einkaufen! Interessant und ansprechend aufgemacht sind die Lavahöhlen bei Sao Vicente. Wir würden hier gerne auch nochmal Urlaub machen.”
