“Due to its location in the middle of a banana plantation but yet close to the sea and to the nearest villages, beaches and restaurants, the house offers a maximum of privacy and is a perfect home base from which to discover the island.
Although it is very well possible to walk from the place to the nearest restaurants or to the sea, and although there is a bus stop less than 25 meters (!) from gate, it is recommended to hire a car at the airport. Hiring a car is not expensive on Gran Canaria, and it significantly upgrades your holiday. At the nearest coast (about 5 minutes drive from the house) there is a lovely place at the sea, with a natural swimming pool, and a few great restaurants. There are several small beaches very close to, but if you want the big yellow one, Las Palmas is the place to go. Playa de Canteras is probably the most beautiful and comfortable beach, and it was not crowded at all (July 2018). It is about half an hour drive from the house. Every village in the neighbourhood has its own characteristics and is worth visiting. Moya in the first place, is a nice little town with many authentic streets and an astonishing viewpoint over the mountains just behind the church. El Roque (a five minute drive) is a little fisherman’s village with probably the most narrow streets we have even seen, and Puerto de las Nieves is also a fisherman’s town, but bigger and looks a little bit more touristy, although you will probably only meet Spanish people there.”
