    “Le Vrétot ist ein Dorf aus Wohnhäusern, es gibt aber im Zentrum (ca. 5 km vom Haus) einen kleinen Laden für das morgendliche Baguette und ein paar süße Teilchen. Die Biscuiterie in Sortosville (ca. 1,2 km vom Haus) bietet ab 9 Uhr leckere Backwaren und eine Unmenge verschiedener, hochwertiger Lebensmittel, von denen man zwangsläufig das eine oder andere als Andenken mit nimmt. Die unmittelbare Umgebung eignet sich zum Wandern oder Radfahren auf den Nebenstraßen (allerdings nicht ohne Steigungen). Tankstelle und Einkäufe in Bricquebec (Intermarché und Super U sowie 2 Bäcker) . In Sortosville gibt es eine Creperie, weitere Lokale und Einkaufsmöglichkeiten in Barneville-Carteret. Tolle Küstenwanderwege (teilweise Rundwege) an den Caps von Carteret über Rozel, Flamanville, Nez de Jobourg bis Hague. Dazwischen teilweise kilometerlange, oft einsame Strände. Empfehlungen für Naturfreunde sind die Dünen in Hatainville und Vauville/Biville mit dem Süßwassersee und Vogelbeobachtungsstation. Im August waren ausgesprochen viele verschiedene Insekten zu beobachten.”
