    “In het dorp Colares is voldoende aanbod om te eten en boodschappen te doen. Verder is er op heel korte afstanden erg veel te beleven. Lissabon, Estoril, Cascais, veel stranden, Sintra, kloosters, kerken. Allemaal even mooi.
    In de nabije omgeving ook mogelijkheden voor goed eten.”

    “Be aware that the house is not in Colares itself, but in the hills at 7km away in a very small village. You need a car for going to the beach (7km). If you like a very quiet place, this is well situated but if you like some more entertainment you better choose another house closer to the popular beaches. Even Colares seafront is not really a big holiday resort. Alse be aware that this part of the country is situated "on the other side of the hill" where the weather is less good than in e.g. Cascais. . We had fog during 5 days in July, what means that we could not enjoy the swimming pool.”

    “Colares selbst ist ein eher kleiner ursprünglicher Ort und nicht so touristisch (mit Ausnahme der nahe gelegenen Burg bzw. des Schlosses). Es sind Einkaufmöglichkeiten und auch einzelne Restaurants vorhanden. Von Colares aus ist man recht schnell in Lissabon und auf den Autobahnen in Richtung Norden und Süden. Colares ist an einem Berg gelegen. Das hat Vor- und Nachteile. Vorteil ist die schöne Sicht bis zum Meer und über die Landschaft. Nachteil ist, dass sich die engen Strassen sehr steil durch den Ort ziehen, was Spaziergänge aber auch das Autofahren durchaus schwierig macht. Auch das Klima ist etwas anders, meist einige Grad kälter als in weiter unten gelegenen Orten, man hat häufiger Wolken und Nebel und eine höhere Luftfeuchtigkeit.”
