Palummielli' flat with water view
A house renovated according to the precepts of bio-architecture and using bio-building materials, located in the historic centre of a medieval village (Belmonte Calabro, CS, Calabria) within a diffused hotel overlooking the blue Tyrrhenian Sea. Belmonte Calabro is located in the centre, on the Tyrrhenian Sea, of the mythical region of Calabria, just a few kilometres from the international airport of Lamezia Terme.Magnificent house in Belmonte Calabro with terrace overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea, Calabrian Medieval Village, tradition and culture, sea and nature
The village is a picture-postcard reality, with colourful walls, stairways leading up and down in a sort of labyrinth to be walked slowly to clear one's thoughts, flower pots, street lamps with warm lights, roof terraces, gardens, which intersect, almost interpenetrate, with walls and gates that fit one on top of the other. All perfectly restored and accessible via a couple of car parks, at either end (you can only move around inside on foot) of a small square that serves as the centre of gravity and where you will find a meeting place and a small restaurant devoted to a traditional cuisine that is itself the cultural heritage of these people who still live in well-being, perhaps the real one, made up of human relationships, adequate time, quality.
Renovated with maniacal attention to detail in absolute respect for its originality. There is an entrance hall communicating with a small corridor that announces the living room/kitchen with fireplace and bathroom and the large terrace with an amazing view of the sea and delightfully transformed into a place of absolute relaxation. The upper floor houses two bedrooms with bathrooms.
After parking your vehicle in the square in front of the old baronial palace DEL GIUDICE, flanked by the peculiar cobblestone slope (known by all as a silica, where the local men, almost all fishermen, on days or hours when it was not useful 'to throw' their boats into the sea, would sit and laze around or in the classic crouched position), you just have to slip into the narrow vault and walk more or less one hundred metres and a few dozen steps to find yourself in front of a peculiar door with three steps: this is the little house called I PALUMMIELLI, named after the hamlet furthest from the centre of the village.
Belmonte Calabro, a wine town since 2003, is among other things a village of medieval origin, perched on a rocky hill in the shape of a donkey's back, covered by Mediterranean scrub and washed by the Veri river (the route along the river is very interesting, passing under the waterfalls and arriving on Mount COCUZZO at 1541 metres above sea level, passing through a dense and varied vegetation with a very particular fauna and trees with imposing centuries-old trunks) and with a splendid view of the sea, at certain times (between October and December), offers suggestive images of the Aeolian Islands archipelago with the Stromboli volcano in the foreground in perpetual activity. Home to many illustrious personalities - from Michele Bianchi to the poet Galeazzo di Tarsia - and various cultural activities that make it one of the most interesting centres in the area. Belmonte is now home to the SCOGLI DI ISCA SEA PARK, where it is possible to dive into its seabed and admire its special wonders that cannot be found elsewhere.
Belmonte Calabro is the convenient starting point for visiting the entire region to discover the naturalistic treasures of the Sila, Pollino and Aspromonte national parks; to discover the mysteries of the important and numerous archaeological sites in the area (Calabria has the richest archaeological heritage in Europe); discovering the mysticism of the fascinating religious itineraries traced out by the life of the patron saint of Calabria and the people of the sea, St. Francis of Paola; discovering the archaic and unique traditions of the many villages with Albanian, Occitan and Grecanic traditions; discovering the marvellous statues of the BRONZE OF RIACE; discovering a marvellous region full of...MYSTERIES!
This little house forms part of a project for the protection and rebirth of the historic centre of Belmonte Calabro. It was like many other semi-detached houses and has been renovated according to the best practices of green building, with the idea of bringing in a few tourists.
This is the widespread hospitality that makes Belmonte Calabro (Cosenza) - a small, ancient town perched on a rocky spur a few kilometres from the blue Tyrrhenian Sea - an example of environmental sustainability and the preservation of cultural and social traditions.
