Surhuizum is adjacent to Surhuisterveen, where supermarkets and numerous other shops can be found. Admire the beautiful nature reserves such as the Westerkwartier and National Park Lauwersmeer and follow relaxing hiking trails that run through the meadows.(Frisian) horses are kept on the grounds. In addition, there are many more animals to be found, from goats and alpacas to birds, donkeys and rabbits. Taking a look at the horses and animals is possible, but under the supervision of the owner. You have a view of the farmlands and the animals.
