Maso Tòttn mountain chalet
It's quiet here with us. Our mountain chalet is situated in a particularly quiet location at 1090 metres above sea level, completely detached on the sunny southern slopes of the Fersen Valley in the municipality of Garait / Frassilongo not far from the hamlet of Oachlait / Roveda on 5000 square metres of private property. The hut offers a stunning panoramic view of the Brenta Dolomites to the west (UNESCO World Heritage Site), which are over 3000 metres high, and the Lagorai mountains to the east and south. The distant view to the west stretches for around 70 kilometres as far as Lombardy. The access road ends 200 metres behind the hut in a turning area.
The 50 square metre hut flat is divided as follows: A spacious, fully equipped, high-quality rustic kitchen-cum-living room, a stylish master bedroom with natural stone on view and a double bed made from fragrant Swiss stone pine or Swiss stone pine, a bedroom with bunk beds and a single bed made from solid wood, as well as a light-flooded, stylishly tiled bathroom with shower, WC, washbasin and bidet.
The hut is heated by a wood-burning cooker in the kitchen-cum-living room and a wood-burning stove in the bedroom; alternatively with underfloor heating in the kitchen-cum-living room and the triple room or central heating in the bathroom and bedroom.
A car park is available directly at the hut. 2 balconies (south and west) 1, seating area with barbecue (south) and another sun terrace (south) with the associated comfortable garden furniture, sun loungers and parasols round off the well-kept and fenced outdoor area and invite you to relax and linger. There is plenty of space in the rock cellar for storing bicycles and other equipment.
The access road to the hut ends 200 metres behind the hut in a cul-de-sac. Due to the geographical location of our hut, access with vehicles larger than a standard car (e.g. camper vans) is not possible.
Hiking without a queue, extensive contiguous natural landscapes, soothing tranquillity and honest local cuisine should be the ingredients for a relaxing mountain holiday. You will find this mix in the Valle dei Mòcheni - Valle del Fersina, Bersntol in dialect.
The valley is surrounded by the high alpine and unspoilt Lagorai mountains, around 25 kilometres east of the provincial capital of Trento. The unspoilt and unspoilt mountain valley is home to one of the southernmost German language islands in the world. An old Bavarian dialect, Bersntoleric, which has remained unchanged for 700 years, is spoken here by around 800 inhabitants in the valley and, as in South Tyrol, place names are given in both Bersntoleric and Italian. It is not uncommon to see eagles in the sky here, in a valley where some of the meadows are still mown with scythes, the cows are still milked by hand and the people still wear traditional costumes; a valley where time seems to have stood still. The inhabitants of the valley have always had a close relationship with nature - their livelihood, then as now.
Traditions are valued here, but at the same time the present and future in terms of infrastructure and sustainable tourism are never lost sight of. The result is a successful interplay between historical awareness and modernity. A journey to one of the most original and historic valleys in Trentino and northern Italy can begin.
