Location description :
Barely 100 km from Vienna and 40 km from St. Pölten lies Türnitz, in the headwaters of the upper Traisen Valley at 461 m above sea level, nestled in one of the most densely wooded regions of the Alpine foothills up to 1373 m. In a wooded valley basin, surrounded by unspoilt countryside, you will meet people who cultivate an intact local life, appreciate festivals and cosiness and are happy to let guests take part.
The area of the market town covers 145.53 square kilometres, 85.01 percent of which is forested. This is one of the highest proportions of woodland in Austria. The altitude of the municipality ranges between 400 metres (Ausserfahrafeld) and the summits of the surrounding mountains, which reach up to 1400 metres: Türnitzer Höger, Eibel and Tirolerkogel in the south-west of the valley, as well as Eisenstein and Hohenstein in the north.
Türnitz offers gentle tourism that guarantees peace, relaxation, adventure, sport, individual care and cosiness.

well-marked hiking trails on our local mountains (Türnitzer Höger, Eibl, Eisenstein, Hohenstein) up to 1374 m above sea level.
Easy alpine hikes for all nature lovers with refreshment stops.
Falkenschlucht natural monument: The Falkenschlucht gorge is a beautiful, year-round water-bearing gorge with steep, towering rock faces up to 100 metres high. The length of the gorge is approx. 600 metres, width of the floor 6 to 20 metres, walking time approx. 45 minutes. You can also return via the forest road. The Innerebengrotte natural monument is located on the right before the entrance to the gorge. The grotto is 12 metres wide, 8 metres high and deep. At a height of approx. 4 metres there is a spring that carries water all year round. The water falls freely to the bottom of the cave. The area around the Falcon Gorge is an ancient place of initiation with 3 magical circles. At the Iron Gate in particular, you can feel the change in the earth's energy or measure it with a rod or pendulum.
Visit the newly built natural swimming pool in the village and enjoy a wonderful summer's day in the pool with refreshments and other leisure activities.
The Eibl-Jet (see photo) with its jumps, waves, 11 bends and 1 roundabout promises fun for the whole family.
