Holiday home for max. 2 persons
Matten, Gstaad Mountain Rides, (Rinderberg-Saanersloch-Gstaa), Switzerland
Cosy alpine hut near Lenk and Gstaad
Privately owned for many generations, the BLACHTY has seen many different uses and housed many people.
The BLACHTY stands on a solid white natural stone base, the façade sunburnt from solid, weathered wood, built in 1631, extended and gently renovated in 1993.
The pretty mullioned windows offer a view of the valley and the meadow to the south-west with a natural stone terrace and standing stones laid out in patterns, while grazing cows in spring and autumn make the BLACHTY even more authentic.
An old wooden staircase leads to the covered corridor with entrance to the kitchen-living room, to the slightly separate dining area with corner bench and antique table.
The two armchairs invite you to linger in front of the wood-burning cooker, which lends the whole house a cosy warmth and comfort.
The kitchen is functionally equipped with plenty of crockery and glassware. The cooking island with oven and kitchen unit allows several chefs to work their magic at the cooker. Those who like to cook on the wood-burning cooker also have this option.
The house is mainly furnished with authentic period furniture.
The living room is furnished with 2 sofas, wing chairs, an old sandstone stove as well as a chest and cupboard.
Works of art by the owners bring modernity into the historic house in various places.
Two bedrooms, one on the ground floor with a cosy crackling wood-burning stove, the second in the attic, very cosy in the sloping roof. Both bedrooms are equipped with beds 180cm wide and 200cm long, with the one in the attic accessible via an original but steep staircase.
Also in the attic is the TV and reading room with a small library in the sloping roof. Two armchairs and a sofa invite you to linger.
On the ground floor is the spacious bathroom with 2 washbasins, old wood built-in cupboards, bath with shower and WC.
The underfloor heating ensures pleasant relaxation in the bath, with water from the house's own spring.
The washing machine is discreetly stored in the built-in cupboard.
A visit to the cellar is worthwhile for special culinary delights. There you will find a fine selection of Swiss and European wines, specially selected for you by our sons Nik and Simon.
A visit to your restaurant 16 Art Bar Restaurant in Saanen would be a pleasure.
Opposite the cellar you will find the wood store with enough stock to be able to get snowed in if you wish.
What can we recommend to our BLACHTY guests?
-Basically, there are two contrasting scenarios at BLACHTY: the winter tranquillity and seclusion, and the active summer outdoor life in the meadows.
summer outdoor life in the meadows, mountains and Alps.
Skiing, sledging, snowshoeing, winter hiking, cross-country skiing, ice skating, wellness in brine or sulphur water,
classical concerts with high-calibre performers, etc.
-In summer there are countless hikes, bike routes and climbing tours starting from the house. Trout fishing in rivers and mountain lakes
and mountain lakes, golfing, river rafting, canoeing, very popular on the Simme and Saane, and horse riding are also on offer.
A great enrichment is the classical music cycle of the Lord Menuhin Festival from July-September.
We would be delighted if we have aroused your interest in BLACHTY!
Your hosts Sophie, Herbie, Nik and Simon
