Excursions : Here in Dalsland there are simply great leisure activities for everyone. The dream of Sweden's unspoilt wilderness and untouched nature is realised in Dalsland, one of the country's smallest but also most varied provinces. Countless forest lakes and quiet, secluded ponds, wooded hills and bizarrely shaped rocks characterise the fascinating landscape. In the south-west there are extensive moors and barren, almost Lappish-looking heathland covered with dwarf birch, fir and gnarled oak trees. One of Sweden's most beautiful waterways, the approx. 250 km long Dalsland Canal, and a huge labyrinthine river and lake system criss-cross the seemingly endless forests in the north and north-west. Anglers, canoeists and bathing fans will find ideal conditions in the atmospheric archipelago off the northern coast of Lake Vänern. For nature lovers and hikers, 19 nature reserves offer unrivalled experiences: for example, the historic Karolinerleden trail in the legendary Kroppefjäll forest and mountain area in the south, the unspoilt Tresticklan National Park in the west or the impressive Sörknatten forest and lake area in the north with magnificent views of Lake Vänern. The Dalslandsleden circular hiking trail is ideal for day trips on foot or by bike. For those interested in history and culture, excursions to the Bronze Age rock paintings at Högsbyn, the medieval castle ruins of Dalaborg or a visit to the numerous local museums are well worthwhile. A spectacular attraction is the aqueduct in Håverud, where the Dalsland Canal offers an impressive view over rapids and small waterfalls.
Other sports and leisure activities: Canoe hire now directly in Nössemark! Canoes, kayaks and bicycles at Villa-Smile dot com in Nössemark. Moose safari, trolley rides, cycling, hiking, running
