Holiday house in the Salmtal at the foot of the Himmerod abbey
This holiday house is in the little village Himmerod, consisting of about five houses and an abbey, near Grosslittgen. The Salmtal and the Himmerod abbey are among the most popular trip destinations in the Eifel. It is also an ideal starting point for hiking paths or places of interest in the area e.g. the Manderscheid castles.
With around 140m² of living space, it provides ample space for a maximum of five people. The living room has a pull-out sofa (3 metres wide) for one person, a coffee table and satellite TV with a DVD player. The generous kitchen is fully-equipped with an oven, fridge-freezer, an electric hob, microwave, toaster, kettle, filter coffee machine and a dining table with chairs. The two bedrooms are each furnished with a double (180cm wide). The largest bathroom has a corner bath, a WC, a washbasin and a hairdryer. The second bathroom has a shower, washbasin and there is also a separate guest WC. Free Wi-Fi access is available in all the rooms of the house but owing to the secluded location it is via satellite and therefore relatively highly priced with little data volume. We therefore kindly request that you do not e.g. stream films, in the interests of other guests. There is also heating in all the rooms.
Outside there is a fully enclosed garden for shared use, with garden furniture and a grill, so that you can enjoy sociable grill evenings in summer. In front of the house there is a sitting corner with a view of the abbey. The owner can offer bicycles. If these are not sufficient, there is bicycle rental in Großlittgen. There are many free outdoor parking spaces. A maximum of four pets are allowed on request. As a rule, there are no supplementary charges for dogs, but please inform the owner before arrival, as the pet must meet certain behavioural requirements.
The house is set up for self-catering and you can purchase regional specialities locally. The abbey itself has a shop with its own products. There is also a bakery next to the abbey. The abbey itself has a restaurant with cuisine and a brewery. Please note that the house is non-smoking and smoking is only permitted outdoors.
The municipality has been levying a tourist tax since the beginning of 2019 that lessors must pass on in full to the municipality. Payment is on arrival to the housekeeper. You will receive a guest card for this.
Fishing day permits can be purchased at the abbey, for fishing for Eifel trout in its fish ponds. The owner is happy to establish the contact. Guests at the holiday house can use the wellness facilities at Molitors Mühle for a fee, just a kilometre away. More detailed information about prices and offers can be found on its website. Other places of interest in the area include the Manderscheid castles (ca. 10km away), the Manderscheider Maar, an extinct vulcano that is lovely for walks, as well as the Nürburgring.
